Method and means of triggering a safety device, especially in a motor vehicle

The method involves generating sensor signals (S1-5) from crash sensors (3a-e) for a control and evaluation unit (2). Crash information is determined by a frequency analysis unit (2a) in the control and evaluation unit and a control signal (ST) to initiate a safety unit (SE) is generated, if it is determined that there has been a crash. The frequency analysis is carried out using a wavelet transformation. An Independent claim is included for a device for implementing the method.
