The invention relates to a holder (10) for a beverage container that can be accommodated, for example, in a center console of a motor vehicle. The invention proposes designing the holder (10) with a flat housing (12), to which two lids (18) are pivotably attached, between which the beverage container, for example a beverage can, a cup or a mug, can be adjusted and is thereby held by the lids (18). In order to pivot the two lids (18) in opposite directions synchronously, the invention proposes connecting the two lids (18) to one another via a coupling rod (32). Furthermore, the invention proposes pivoting spring-loaded pressure flaps (24) attached pivotably to the lids (18) in the direction of a lid inner side via a control cam (46) when the lids (18) are pivoted into a substantially flat position in which they close the housing (12). This makes a low overall height of the housing (12) possible.
