OpenTTD AIs and Game Scripts • Re: List of good AI & AI testing.

Update tiiiime. Golly gosh i do enjoy these days.

There are new AI versions that have been tested, or that is when i clicked update all from BaNaNaS OpenTTD ticked them so I assume that's what the good news means. CluelessPlus, AAAHogEx & ChooChoo, now tested on OpenTTD 15.3 too, rather than 15.1. Although CluelessPlus' GitHub hasn't been updated for 8 years so who knows? The result? heartbreak, stress, depression they all work good still! I've also started adding GitHub links instead of just TT-F links back to these forums for the AI that i look for and find the GitHub for.

There's also a new AI that popped up, named Lufthansa. Unfortunately the description for the AI named after a German company is in French, as BaNaNaS has no standardised language it seems. My understanding of the phrase 'de votre flotte' in the description with my high-school given French lessons is 'of your fleet', meaning that it is a helper AI, which is outside of what I test, at least at present. The github link in the BaNaNaS entry is also invalid, so I was unable to verify if it truly is just a helper from source. Perhaps some validation of links would be nice there? If I hear its not I can easily add it to the big ole' list though.

This comes across to me as arguing in bad faith.

Have you ever tried arguing with them in good faith? It's a waste of time, I did it once. They ruined their one chance over a decade ago.

Abandoned AIs breaking because the OpenTTD developers want to keep improving their game isn't OpenTTD's fault.

It is very much OTTDs fault that they made the change to move to customised AI, which at first was a great step. What is less great is not extending their almighty backwards compatibility ethos to it, and leaving that part of the game ecosystem to rot away more and more each version, and without providing an officially supported & non-breaking default AI for those who don't want to search for a working stable AI. Instead they leave it to people to know (without informing them) when their AI has become broken or may be less efficient in a new version, and providing no meaningful resources for new players, or players who are only just starting to gain interest in using AIs to know where to start and what AI will simply waste their time, oh and they provide zero help or even vague approval of the stuff I do to try helping those players to save them the job of doing it. Is the work I do here perfect, no. But I do my best with what is available to me.
