For what it’s worth, there were no comments about AIs on the wetlands Pull Request, nor did anyone discuss them with me on Discord (I wrote the wetlands feature and did not expect it to break AIs). Your Discord screenshot shows an opinion posted by someone who has never been part of the development team.
