But of course, that was before I knew that dealing with Flathub is one of the worst experiences a developer can have.

The apps you mention are often well-known apps which were added at the beginni…ng of Flathub. Some permissions, like manually writing desktop files to ~/.local/share/applications, were also granted then because there was no good way to do it inside the sandbox at the time. When the Faugus launcher was released, did the Document Portal not exist? Or did the Document Portal not provide access to folders? > The old apps should ideally be improved to be on the same level, but they aren't also just thrown out just because. And with them also often being well-known projects, there is more trust into the developers and maintainers as well. When I open flathub.org, it says "Flathub is the App Store for Linux," which means it tries to be the main source of apps, the place where users will download well-known apps and discover new ones. So how will smaller projects become known and gain user trust without being on Flathub? > Now, you are new to Flathub. You have shown already to ignore the requirements and submission guide before, which don't build trust. I'm new to Flathub, but I'm not new to the Linux community; I've been in the Ubuntu/Snap community for quite a while now, but from what I'm seeing, it seems you guys are trying to ignore the existence of Snapd. So you're automatically going to ignore that I'm trustworthy. > We have no obligations to publish apps on Flathub that don't fulfill our criterias for submission. If you consider it important for your app to be on Flathub, you need to follow the requirements. If you don't want to, then feel free to close this PR and create your own Flatpak repository with your own rules. I wanted to publish this because it would make life easier for users who use Flatpak. But of course, that was before I knew that dealing with Flathub is one of the worst experiences a developer can have.
