CHAPEL HILL REGIONAL — Paulsen doubled in a pair of runs with two outs in the bottom of the first, and the Heels never looked back. He tacked on another RBI in the eighth for a little cherry on top of Carolina’s dominant opening win over VCU. The Stony Brook transfer had his biggest game of the year back in February— also against VCU, in which he clubbed a pair of homers in a four-hit effort. Paulsen endured a tough slump throughout most of April and May, but he has the chance to finish his first season in Chapel Hill on a high note. — Harris Yudin

‼️ Ryan Lynch, RHP North Carolina (Atlantic Coast)

CHAPEL HILL REGIONAL — Being tasked with sending the Heels to the very necessary regional winners bracket, Lynch turned in his best performance of his career. VCU failed to reach third base while Lynch was on the mound, with no extra-base hits on the evening. The Carolina righty kept the ball on the ground and let his defense make plays, working himself out of any mini jams with ease. The Heels didn’t necessarily need him to be this dominant in order to win, but this outing allowed the bullpen to stay fresh heading into Saturday's clash with ECU. — Harris Yudin

Joe Tiroly, 2B Virginia (Atlantic Coast)

3-for-5, HR, 2B, 2 R, 4 RBI, K

HATTIESBURG REGIONAL — Tough to win a game when the staff gives up 15 runs. Regardless, Joe Tirol did most of the work for the Virginia offense, driving in four of their seven runs scored. He attempted t spark a comeback with three separate RBI hits but his efforts fell short as the Jax State offense was just too overpowering. Matchup was always going to be tough but it's good to see Tirol keep up his hot bat. — Joshua Salguero

💣💣💣 Alex Hernandez, RF Georgia Tech (Atlantic Coast)

4-for-6, 3 HR, 2B, 4 R, 9 RBI, K

ATLANTA REGIONAL — Alex Hernandez HAD A DAY AT THE PLATE!!! 3 Bombs into the Atlanta sky and 9 RBI a statement from the best offense in the country that just hit dingers all day. This is a deep lineup, but every single hitter in this Ramblin Wreck squad can mash. This Regional will likely have a plethora of HRs. After Will Flanigan put the Flames on the board with a 2-run shot in the Top of the 2nd. Hernandez drove a 407-foot homer to LF to tie it at 2 in the bottom of the inning.

A double down the line in the 3rd, and then with an 8-2 lead for the Yellow Jackets in the 4th, Alex Hernandez broke the floodgates open with a Grand Slam, a 425-foot blast backside to RCF, between a light post and the camera shed in RCF.

Then with a 17-2 lead, Hernandez put the cherry on top of the triple scoop sundae and hit a 403-foot monster shot aiming for that same light pole. The three homers in terms of EVs: 107 mph, 108 mph, and 107 mph; that’s consistency in punishing mistakes and driving the baseball out with a consistent swing. It’s now 17 RBI in 4 career Regional Games for Hernandez, and he becomes the 1st Georgia Tech player to hit 3 HRs in a Regional/Super Regional. (@GTBaseball on X) — Brandon Tew

Vahn Lackey, C Georgia Tech (Atlantic Coast)

2-for-3, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, K

ATLANTA REGIONAL — Vahn Lackey is as consistent a performer at the plate as any hitter this season. He launched number 19 over the LF fence near the scoreboard in the 3rd to make it 5-2. Lackey can do it all, and a 456-foot bomb is just ho-hum for him at this point. He CRUSHES baseballs, but he’s a plus defender behind the plate with a rocket arm, snap-quick draw that fires bullets to different bases, and arm utility around batters in the box, with one of the quickest draws around.

He can move exceptionally, block exceptionally, and has the hands as a receiver to frame pitches well. He’s the total package as a Catcher Prospect and has the athleticism and wheels to play in other parts of the diamond. He has the physical frame and tools to be one of the best catchers in baseball, and the bat and power can make him a superstar if it all clicks. — Brandon Tew

Jarren Advincula, 2B Georgia Tech (Atlantic Coast)

ATLANTA REGIONAL — Jarren Advincula is an athletic 2B who uses his fast bat and elite hand-eye and barrel control to spray the ball all over the diamond. It was a 3-for-5 day with two doubles to start his day off, both to the opposite field from his quick, compact lefty swing. He gets deep into his stance, giving him a solid base to move from. He then tacked on in the 4th after his 2nd double by driving a 2-run shot to RF, pulling the ball after a Drew Burress walk. Burress and Lackey get the headlines as the dynamic duo in this lineup and rightly so! But Advincula makes it a trio that is hard to navigate after Carson Kerce leads off the lineup. His bat sandwiched in between the school’s all-time HR leader and one of the best Catching Prospects in recent memory certainly helps him get pitches. He’s a hitter who has stepped in as a transfer from Cal and been amazing for this lineup; you don’t just swing into a 166 wRC+ and a .434/.505/.635 slash line by just getting better pitches to hit. There’s serious talent here, and he will be a key batter for this team as they have their eye on the ultimate goal: winning a national title. — Brandon Tew

🍔🍟 Derek Williams, RF Miami (FL) (Atlantic Coast)

2-for-3, HR, 3 R, 3 RBI, 2 BB, SB

GAINESVILLE REGIONAL — It was the Derek Williams show against Troy. A four hour rain delay put a bit of damper on the anticipation from this matchup but the game still managed to live up the hype. Derek Williams sent a three-run blast that opened the lead to four runs in the 3rd. Troy scratched their way back a bit but Williams manufactured an insurance run by himself to open the 7th. He led off with a walk and with his aggressive lead, forced a pickoff attempt. The throw went wild and with Williams' speed, he managed to score all the way from first to push the lead a bit further out. His early work put Miami into a good spot and the surrounding offense picked up Williams to pour on five in the 8th to finish off the win. Moving into the winner's match, they're set up with Florida who narrowly escaped a big embarrassment. — Joshua Salguero

‼️ A.J. Colarusso, LHP Boston College (Atlantic Coast)

7.0 IP, 10 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K

ATHENS REGIONAL – AJ Colarusso played like peanut butter on Friday evening because this man could not avoid the jam; to his credit, despite the ten hits and two walks, Colarusso limited the damage to a pair of earned runs, keeping Boston College in the hunt the entire night in what proved to be a rather close 2-3 contest in Athens. The bulldog left-hander Colarusso previously stated BC hoped to “make some noise” in a regional, and despite the narrow loss, I think they achieved this goal; Colarusso was also rather efficient on the night, needing 100 pitches to work through all the traffic across seven strong innings in a quality start opposite Liberty’s Ben Blair. – Drew Wheeler

💣💣 Julio Solier, SS Boston College (Atlantic Coast)

ATHENS REGIONAL – The freshman has done plenty to emerge as one of the country’s most dangerous and exciting first-year players, but a little bit of national-stage flair can never hurt! Solier launched the first of his two homers on the day in the fifth inning, going to center field to put the Birds on the board. In the seventh, Solier got the bat working again, tying the game at two-all with a blast to right center. Boston College can hang their hats on this dynamic, powerful profile up the middle; I’m sure other scouts took plenty of notice, too. – Drew Wheeler

MORGANTOWN REGIONAL — Chris Levonas has had a massive sophomore season for Wake Forest, and yesterday he gave them everything he had in their biggest game of the year. He only allowed 2 baserunners in the first four innings of this one. He ran into a little bit of trouble in the 5th and ultimately gave up his only run on a double, but limited the damage in an inning where things could have been a lot worse. He ended up exiting the game due to his pitch count getting up there and the rest of their staff couldn’t finish the job, but Levonas is going to be a big time name to watch in next year’s draft. Wake Forest is going to be facing Binghamton in Saturday’s elimination game. — Jake Bargery

MORGANTOWN REGIONAL — A lot happened in this game. There was a lot of back and forth in this one and Dalton Wentz, Matt Conte, and Andrew Costello really provided some thump for Wake Forest. The score was 1-0 in favor of Wake until the fourth inning, when Conte broke things open with a 416 foot two-run jack. That was all the scoring the ‘Deacs had until the 6th and the 8th where Costello and Wentz went deep, but unfortunately no one was on base for either of them and Wake ended up losing by just one run. — Jake Bargery

LOS ANGELES REGIONAL — There weren’t a ton of big offensive performances for this Virginia Tech lineup on Friday, but what stood out in this one was the great pitching they got from their bullpen. Brady Roe, Luke Craytor, and Brendan Yagesh started their run in the 6th with a 6-spot on the scoreboard for Poly, and that’s where that number was at the end of this game. They were efficient, only needing 52 pitches to finish this game. They all three pitched to contact, filled up the zone, and kept runs off the board. Unfortunately for VA Tech, the bats still let them down in the end and they will have to face the number one overall seeded UCLA Bruins on Saturday in an elimination game. — Jake Bargery

Gabe Fraser, SS Florida State (Atlantic Coast)

TALLAHASSEE REGIONAL — Finally making his way back into the starting lineup in mid April following an extended benching by Head Coach Link Jarrett, Gabe Fraser proved to be one of the most valuable bats in the Seminoles lineup, hitting his first homer of the year in the 2nd inning — Nate Jones

Brayden Dowd, CF Florida State (Atlantic Coast)

TALLAHASSEE REGIONAL — The most polished bat in the Seminoles lineup, Brayden Dowd has made it a habit since transferring from USC this season of putting together professionals AB's and consistently controlling the zone. Dowd carried that trend into the regionals, going 3-3 with a 2B, 2 RBI and 2 BB on the day, ripping an RBI double into left to push the lead to 5-2, doing his best to carry the offensive load following star 1B Myles Bailey going down earlier in the season. — Nate Jones

TALLAHASSEE REGIONAL — Perhaps the most talented player on the Seminoles roster, true freshman John Stuetzer started the game off with a bang, going yard on the first pitch of the ballgame to set the tone for Florida State. Showcasing his talent on the grass as well, Stuetzer picked up 2 OF assists on the day with his plus arm — Nate Jones

LINCOLN REGIONAL — Arizona State but up a valient effort but couldn't bring home the win in game 1. Contrades and Toigo combined for 3 bombs and were essentially the Sun Devils' entire offense. Contrades is a huge power threat at the top of the lineup, providing important protection for Hairy Bonds in the leadoff spot. He's hitting .375 on the year, 17 HRs, and only 25 strikeouts. He's been fantastic this year. Toigo has been just as good and this 1-2-3 has raked all year long. They'll need to keep putting it together today in an elimination game vs SDSU. — Quinn Martin

💣💣💣 Andrew Williamson, RF Central Florida (Big 12)

3-for-4, 3 HR, 3 R, 6 RBI

AUBURN REGIONAL — Holy crap Andrew Williamson have a day. A 3-homer day for the junior who is looking to work his name into first round conversations. He hit 3 lasers over the RF wall. His power is next level and although he has some severe bat movement pre-swing, it works for him. He gets his timing right and absolutely dominated an NC State pitching staff that continues to reel over the back half of the season. — Quinn Martin

Augusto Mungarrieta , C Kansas (Big 12)

1-for-3, HR, R, 2 RBI, 2 K

LAWRENCE REGIONAL — Kansas backstop Augusto Mungarrieta got the party started early in Lawrence with a 2-run homer, a 422-foot homer for his 16th of the season. I like his setup in the box; he’s balanced, and it’s a quick, short leg kick to load his weight. He then strides closed and then braces against his front side to dive the ball out with power from his 6-foot-200-pound frame. If the Jayhawks are gonna win this Regional, they will likely need some of these middle-of-the-order bats to produce as Leblanc, Owens, and Baldridge continue to get on base in front of them. — Brandon Tew

Tyson Leblanc, SS Kansas (Big 12)

LAWRENCE REGIONAL — Tyson Leblanc is the type of shortstop/middle infielder teams love; he’s a leadoff hitter who can leave the yard and begin a game with a bang. In the 3rd, he extended Kansas’ lead to 4-1 with a solo blast to LCF for his 22nd dong of the year. He makes quality contact and has good swing decisions as a hitter with an aggressive approach. He’s the type of hitter that makes pitchers uncomfortable from the first pitch. A 149 WRC+ and an impressive slash line of .343/.426/1.116 in his lone season in the Big 12 after two years at JUCO LSU Eunice. He’s a name that could keep rising up draft boards if the Jayhawks keep playing big games and win this regional. They will face Arkansas in the winner’s bracket, the Kansas vs Ar-Kansas matchup we all wanted. — Brandon Tew

‼️ Dominic Voegele, RHP Kansas (Big 12)

7.0 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, BB, 9 K, HRA

LAWRENCE REGIONAL — It’s a smooth and easy delivery for the right-hander Voegele, and he uses his long, whippy arm stroke to pump mid-90s fastballs that touch 97 mph. He was on as the Jayhawks starter on Friday and had one of the better outings in the country. Considering the day was highlighted by higher-seed upsets and teams putting up some offense, Voegele used his fastball, slider, and curve effectively to carve through the Northeastern lineup.

While he gave up 3 runs, he gave the Kansas pitching staff length and shortened the game to the bullpen, leaving the game with a 4-3 lead after 7. The Jayhawks would shut the door with Boede Rahe closing it out with two perfect innings, and Kansas only had to use two arms to get to the Winner’s bracket; granted, it was one of their better bullpen arms and their Ace, but being 1-0 means something when you're the team hosting a Regional for the first time. — Brandon Tew

STARKVILLE REGIONAL – Well, this is certainly a way to make a draft impact on a national stage. Jack Natili’s third triple-dong day of the season came amidst a budding love affair with the Left Field Lounge in Starkville, as all three of his big shots were pulled on Friday night. Natili leapt out towards his three homers in the bottom second inning, clobbering a 1-2 offering down the left field line to obliterate Louisiana’s lead and tie the game at one-all. In the bottom fifth, Natili sent a ball cruising over the furthest reaches of the Left Field Lounge, plating himself and Quinton Coats for another two runs; in the eighth, it was much of the same, popping another two runs on the screen with a bomb to left field. Natili also kicked in a double in the fourth inning and even when he wasn’t swinging the bat, seemed to be involved in home runs, scoring when Enzo Infelise knocked his homer to center field. After the game, Louisiana Head Coach Matt Deggs said Natili and the Bearcats had just delivered a “good old-fashioned country butt-whoopin’.” “I haven’t seen anyone do that to Cody Brasch,” said Deggs. “Sometimes you’re the windshield, sometimes you’re the bug.” Natili’s nuclear day led the Bearcats to a 12-2 slashing of Louisiana; Cincinnati will tangle with Mississippi State on Saturday in what could be another offensive exhibition at Dudy Noble Field. – Drew Wheeler

MORGANTOWN REGIONAL — It took this Mountaineer offense some time to get going, but once they did they didn’t slow down. They didn’t put any runs through the first three, but Matthew Graveline got them started with a two-run jack in the fourth and that was the spark they needed. Ben Lumsden also got in on the action in that fourth inning by driving his first home run of the season and scoring Armani Guzman in the process, who had a double and a stolen base earlier in the inning. Back up in the 6th, Guzman cleared the loaded basepaths with a double to extend their lead to 9. Gavin Kelly also had an RBI double earlier in the inning and those drives proved to be enough to put the game out of reach. West Virginia will be facing Kentucky in the winner’s bracket game on Saturday. — Jake Bargery

MORGANTOWN REGIONAL — West Virginia entered Friday as the last hosting seed and they wanted to come out hot to make them regret placing them so low. They faced off against a Binghamton team who has had a really nice year, but that lineup was no match for Chansen Cole and David Hagan. They were filling up the zone (only had one walk between the two), punching guys out (recorded 13 strikeouts combined), and were efficient while doing it (took them less than 15 pitches per innings). While they were maybe expected to perform well as the number one seed versus a four, their performances allowed the rest of the WVU staff to go into the rest of this regional rested and ready to go. — Jake Bargery

TUSCALOOSA REGIONAL — Remo evened the score for the Pokes in the 2nd, launching a no-doubt 3 run blast to RF, providing the bulk of the offense for Oklahoma State on the day with one swing of the bat — Nate Jones

TUSCALOOSA REGIONAL — Reaching base 4 times on the day, Garrett Shull brought Oklahoma State within 1 with a sharp ground ball 2B down the RF line in the 5th — Nate Jones

LINCOLN REGIONAL — Big win for Nebraska in game 1 over South Dakota State. Wasn't the most dominant win of all time for the offense but Jasa was great with Carey and Buck standing out with the sticks. Jasa generated weak groundball contact with his slider and though he didn't work much whiff, he was effective in the swing and miss he did get. The control was a bit scattered but he did well limiting the walks. Carey and Buck combined for 5 hits and 2 bombs, Carey continuing a magical senior season where he refuses to let up. Buck has been an awesome contributor in the middle of the lineup and has been a worthy addition for this lineup. — Quinn Martin

Abbrie Covarrubias, 2B USC (Big Ten)

COLLEGE STATION REGIONAL — In the fourth inning against Texas State, Covarrubias took a hanger and drove it out to left, extending the Trojans’ lead. It was just his third homer of the season, his first since mid-March and the sixth of his entire three-year career. The USC pitching staff ended up giving the game away, but the junior leadoff hitter did his part. — Harris Yudin

Toby Twist, LHP Oregon (Big Ten)

EUGENE Regional – As it's been all season, the trio of Oregon freshmen energized the Duck lineup to victory, with their 14-2 win over Yale. Junior Lauaki had the worst box score line of the three, but put the nail in the coffin on this one with an emphatic 3-run HR that was hit deep, high, and very gone. He’s up to 13 HRs on the year, which has only been a half-season for the 6’5/265 monster RS-FR. Something to watch for next year, Lauaki came to Oregon as a TWP, touching 96. He’s missed the 1st half of the season recovering from a major arm injury, but the plan is for him to return to the mound for 2027, which should be very interesting to watch. Angel Laya had the most clutch at bat for the Ducks, working a 14-pitch AB off ‘27 notable RHP Jack Ohman, and finishing off the duel with a double+E4, giving Oregon some breathing room and a 5-run lead. Jaksa had an all-around good day, and nearly identical line to Laya, reaching base in all PAs but for one, and doubling twice, scoring twice, and scoring 2 runners. Both Jaksa and Laya project for mid-to-late 1st rounders in 2028 as great bats, but presently negative defenders. Toby Twist slammed the door just when Yale looked to have started a comeback, tossing 3 scoreless innings and striking out 5 out of the pen. While Mark Wazikowski would have loved to save him for the rest of this region, Twist has saved the powerful high-leverage duo of Tanner Bradley and Devin Bell for Saturday and Sunday. Overall, Oregon looks to be in a great position to make it to a 2nd Super Regional in 3 years, as they look to break an over-70-year Omaha drought. — Will Dodge

LOS ANGELES REGIONAL — The UCLA bullpen was outstanding in this one, especially in the 6th, 7th, and 8th innings. Landon Stump, Cal Randall, and Zach Strickland only allowed a combined 2 baserunners in the three innings they pitched. This St. Mary’s lineup was pesky up until they came into the game and they did a great job navigating those crucial innings while the offense was still struggling to get things going. UCLA will be facing Virginia Tech on Saturday with their season on the line. — Jake Bargery

LOS ANGELES REGIONAL — There have been a couple of somewhat recent changes to this UCLA rotation with the injury to Logan Reddemann and Landon Stump moving to the bullpen. Wylan Moss had made 5 starts in a row since being entered into the rotation and he was given the ball in their opening regional game. He was efficient, only needing 68 pitches to get through 5 innings of 2-run pitching. He struck out 4 with only 1 walk, but he just wasn’t getting the run support he needed to record a win. — Jake Bargery

Roman Martin, INF UCLA (Big Ten)

LOS ANGELES REGIONAL — In a game where offense was at a premium, Roman Martin provided the loudest hit for this star-studded UCLA team with a game-tying solo homer in the fourth to get the Bruins on the scoreboard. Unfortunately, he didn’t get much help as the rest of the lineup just didn’t have an answer to what those St. Mary’s arms were throwing at them. — Jake Bargery

AUSTIN REGIONAL — Guerra continued the season he’s having, game one of the regionals, hitting two home runs with three RBIs and playing a big role in Tarleton State’s win over UCSB. Guerra has really taken off the last two years and has a chance to have double-digit home runs for the second year in a row if he hits one more this tournament. He has now homered in three straight games dating back to the conference tournament. — Anthony Marotta

Brayden Horn jumped on Marciano early with a 3 run bomb in the first and Charlie Marion piled on later to put the dagger in the heart's of the Tigers. Horn's stepped up big in his sophomore year and really showed out yesterday, jumping on a flat 87mph from Marciano in the first inning. Marion was a big standout as well, being a super consistent threat at the plate, working gap to gap with some pull side juice in his senior season. — Quinn Martin

AUSTIN REGIONAL — McCloud had the day at the plate Tarleton State needed as they beat UC Santa Barbara 11 to 5 on Friday night. A double, home run, and four RBIs helped Tarleton State upset UCSB, and they will look to continue to make noise in the Austin Regional on Saturday night against Texas. Both his double and home run allowed Tarleton State to pull away, with his double making it 5-1 in the 5th and his home run making it 8-4 in the 9th. Despite only batting .256 at the plate, McCloud can finish his season on a completely different note if he continues what he did on Friday into the rest of the weekend. — Anthony Marotta

COLLEGE STATION REGIONAL — Mora broke a scoreless tie with a sac fly in the second inning, but he really made his mark in the ninth. With Texas State down to its final two outs, the four-year starter delivered an absolute moonshot to claim the lead over USC. With that homer, he extended his program record with 42 — but none bigger than the one on Friday. — Harris Yudin

CHAPEL HILL REGIONAL — Burress began the day with just one hit in his first six at-bats, but then doubled and scored the go-ahead run in the 13th before delivering an insurance run with a single in the 14th. He has 11 hits in five games since the start of the conference tournament, placing him second in the confeence with 83 hits on the year. — Harris Yudin

CHAPEL HILL REGIONAL — ECU coach Cliff Godwin opted for Ryan Towers instead of Norby, but turned to the lefty anyway once things ot a little murky with a runner on third and one out in the seventh. Norby rewarded that decision, punching out the next two Tennessee hitters and mowing down the Vols over the next four frames— with one notable exception. The pitch to Ford wasn’t even so bad; Ford put a great swing on a fastball up in the zone. Norby has flashed dominance throughout his three years in Greenville, and he really brought his A game in a big moment against a tough opponent to help send ECU to the winners’ bracket. — Harris Yudin

HATTIESBURG REGIONAL — The hits start coming and they don't stop coming, raking in 17 to total for 15 runs. The unstoppable bats from the CUSA tourney continued to show no weakness, proving to be unstoppable against the Virginia arms. Caleb Johnson and Brady Thomas each had three hit, three RBI games as all but one bat in the starting lineup drove in a run. Jax State really should've been a two seed and it will only cause problems for others in their bracket. With Little Rock's upset of Southern Miss, Jax State will take on the Trojans in the winners matchup on Saturday. — Joshua Salguero

LAWRENCE REGIONAL — The three-hole hitter Ryan Gerety was the best hitter in the Northeastern lineup yesterday; he’s one of the better hitters for the 4 seed. With a 131 wRC+ this season and a .956 OPS. If Northeastern is gonna score enough runs to keep playing on Saturday, Gerety is gonna be in the mix for them. A 3-for-4 day with a Triple is how you want to start a Regional, but they desperately need it to continue. — Brandon Tew

If Northeastern was gonna pull the upset as a 4 seed, they were gonna need some unlikely contributors. They just didn’t have enough offense, and now they play for their tournament lives in an Elimination game vs Missouri State on Saturday. — Brandon Tew

HATTIESBURG REGIONAL — Little Rock for the second consecutive year is wrecking havoc upon the top seeds. Last season, they took down ranked Dallas Baptist to move to the Baton Rouge championship where they took the first game from LSU. This season, they open up with a win over Southern Miss to put themselves in the driver's seat. Nolan Freund was the key in the win. He gave Little Rock the early lead with an RBI single in the 3rd and again came up clutch in the 9th. After a Kade Smith double to tie the game Freund sent one up the middle to bring home the go-ahead run. Blake Simpson followed with a soul-crushing homer to push the lead out to three. The momentum shift led to a quiet 9th from the Golden Eagles as Little Rock is set to face Jax State on Saturday. — Joshua Salguero

HATTIESBURG REGIONAL — Certainly not how you want to start off. Southern Miss became the first of four hosts to drop their first game of this year's regionals. The bats were off their game but the damage they did do was sufficient enough. Joey Urban crushed a 451' blast to give Southern Miss a two-run lead in the 4th. After Little Rock tied it, Davis Gillespie sent one out to give them the lead needing just three more outs. All four runs of the game were driven in by way of the homer but in what Southern Miss struggled with during the season, failed to capitalize with runners on despite the hit total. — Joshua Salguero

GAINESVILLE REGIONAL — Late inning heroics from both sides best exemplified this game. Facing a four-run deficit, Anthony Paskell crushed a high fastball and deposited past the left field wall for a game-tying grand slam. Insanity. The fireworks didn't stop there with Nick Shuhet hitting a homer a couple batters later to give Rider their first lead of the game and capping off a seven run inning. Florida would regain the lead but Matt Leahy would tie things up once more with a solo shot in the 9th. Sadly, the magic ended there and they'd be walked off in the bottom half but Rider put up an excellent fight against Florida that's sure to have their next opponent (Troy) sweating. Florida humidity certainly doesn't help with the sweating. — Joshua Salguero

Max Knight, LHP Missouri State (Mid Majors)

LAWRENCE REGIONAL — Max Knight is a two-way player for Missouri State who has hit double-digit HRs in 2026. They gave him the ball to start this one as one of several teams to “Pitch off” he pitched his butt off as a Lefty with a quick, compact arm stroke. He’s able to get that arm up into a high three-quarters slot and throws decently hard with a solid breaking ball he was mixing well today and pitched really well, allowing just one solo shot in his 4 innings and 78 pitches with 7 punchies. I am sure Knight could factor into this regional at some point, possibly off the bench as a lefty bat, and maybe he gets a chance to try and do something with the bat this weekend too. — Brandon Tew

Bryce Cermenelli, 2B Missouri State (Mid Majors)

LAWRENCE REGIONAL — 2B Bryce Cremenelli did everything he could to give Missouri State a chance to win this game offensively. On the 2nd pitch of the game, he swatted a fastball to LF, and the Bears were off and going. It took Arkansas SP Gabe Gaeckle 33 pitches to get through the first inning, and the Razorbacks were down 2-0 after the first half inning of the game. Cermenelli was the engine driving this offense today, and he was a pest in the box.

While he doesn’t hit for much damage, he can pop pitches out and hit the ball hard enough to find holes. He was intentionally walked in the middle of a possible big inning in the 4th, and Gaeckle then got out of the jam. He was on base 5 times today and will likely have to be just as good tomorrow, with Missouri State now in the loser’s bracket vs. Northeastern after Arkansas rallied to win it. — Brandon Tew

EUGENE Regional – Yale wore it as the 4 seed, dropping to Oregon 14-2, built by a Duck 8-run 8th, but there was a point when the game was a little bit closer when the Bulldog DH Brady Ruiz-Weiss hit a 2-run homer to make it a 4-run game. It’s Ruiz-Weiss’ 1st career college homer, and not a bad time to do it in an NCAA Regional game. Yale will have to turn it around quickly, as they’ll play again in about 16 hours from the first pitch of this one, and will face another draft prospect in RHP Eric Segura and the Oregon State Beavers, with elimination on the line. — Will Dodge

GAINESVILLE REGIONAL — Although a bit quieter, Troy's bats still put in the work against Miami pitching. Blake Cavill stayed hot with two hits of his own including a two-run double that cut the lead to just one in the early goings. Drew Nelson also built off a strong performance in the Sun Belt tourney with a game-tying shot in the 8th. That would be the closest Troy would get in this one though and a five run bottom half of the inning spelled their demise. Troy is setup to play Rider in an elimination game set less than twelve hours from when their game ended. — Joshua Salguero

‼️ Ethan Kleinschmit, LHP Oregan State (Mid Majors)

5.2 IP, 2 H, ER, 2 BB, 9 K

EUGENE Regional – Getting the start in Game 1 for the Beavers, the lefty Ace Ethan Kleinschmit was dominant, only allowing 1 earned run and striking out 9 Wazzu batters, but only going 92 pitches and 5.2 innings. He sits around 91 mph, but with a rise-and-run shape, it outperforms the fringe velo. He pairs it with a high-spinning, sweeping Sweeper, with command for each. An early Day 2 profile. It’s been a shaky season from month to month for Kleinschmit, but just as May looked to be a month of down performance, he twirled this excellent start. It just was not enough to match the complete game excellence of Nick Lewis. As for the Beavers, dropping the opener is a pretty disappointing result, but if there’s any consolation, it’s a spot they were in just last season, and they rallied to make it to Omaha. — Will Dodge

EUGENE Regional — A masterpiece pulled straight from 1926, Nick Lewis goes the distance against their Pac-2 rivals, Oregon State, striking out just 1 batter, but with 15 fly outs in gloomy PNW conditions, that can get the job done. Lewis did allow some traffic, with 2 runners scoring and 5 of the 6 hits going for extra bases, but he battled tremendously through to the end. The RS SO lefty lacks the action necessary to draw draft hype sitting in the mid-80s, but he’s accustomed to going deep into games, and for today, it was enough. The Cougars move on to face another team from the Pac-12 1.0, Oregon. -Will Dodge

7.0 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 7 K, 2 HRA

ATHENS REGIONAL – Not often you see a METAL bat broken, but Ben Blair is a pretty special type of arm. The draft-eligible right-hander has a lot of heat on the mound, with gritty, driven play and a fastball he holds in the mid-90s and lets run through the zone; when you mix in his tremendous extension and sweepy breaker, you get an incredible hunk of clay for a pro team to mold. On Friday, Blair dueled with Boston College’s AJ Colarusso in one of the day’s finest pitching matchups; in fact, the only runs against Blair came via homers. For instance, Blair offered a 95-MPH fastball to Julio Solier in the seventh, and the freshman shortstop turned and took it 420 feet; these things happen. Blair did not walk a batter, allowed eight hits (including the two blasts) and needed 109 pitches to complete his seven frames of work. If this was his last collegiate start, he leaves Liberty with a gem which resulted in a 4-3 victory. – Drew Wheeler

MORGANTOWN REGIONAL — While the final score didn’t look too pretty for the Bearcats, they still had some pretty solid pitching performances from some of their top guys. Conner Griffin is a legit 2026 draft prospect arm and he really looked like it through the first three innings. He did give up a couple of walks, but the stuff was on display as he recorded three strikeouts against this lineup that clearly came to play. Jackson Mitchell followed Griffin and other than a homer that scored a couple of inherited runners, he was really good. He got out of that 4th inning and recorded a scoreless 5th to potentially give his team a chance to put some runs on the board. Brady Lesiak was the final pitcher of this game for Binghamton and he pitched a scoreless 1.2 innings and only needed 18 pitches to do so. Binghamton will be going against Wake Forest with their season on the line on Saturday. — Jake Bargery

LOS ANGELES REGIONAL — The pitching for this Cal Poly team was phenomenal. Griffin Naess has been a workhorse for them all year long and he was just that once again on Friday going 7 innings with only 1 ER, 9 punchouts, and throwing 117 pitches. He handed the ball off to Brady Estes in the 8th who struck out a pair and walked a pair before being switched for their electric closer, Nick Bonn. Bonn is a flamethrower who came in and did just that, throw flames. He finished the 8th with a strikeout and did allow a single to lead off the 9th, but he made quick work of the rest of those Hokie bats, recording his 16th save of the season and setting Cal Poly up with a date with St. Mary’s in a 3 vs. 4 seed matchup on the winner’s side on Saturday, just like we drew it up. — Jake Bargery

LOS ANGELES REGIONAL — This was a regional Friday with a lot of unexpected things happening and not only was UCLA upset by St. Mary’s, but also the two-seeded VA Tech was upset by the three-seeded Cal Poly. I wouldn’t say the bats were electric in this one, but the bottom half of this Poly batting order was getting the job done. Dante Vachini scored Casey Murray Jr. in the 2nd on a single to extend their lead to 2. VA Tech answered with a run of their own in the 2nd, but Cam Hoiland went deep in the third to get that run right back. Murray Jr., had a pair of RBI singles in the 4th and the 6th and that proved to be all this Poly team needed to get the win and advance in this regional. — Jake Bargery

LOS ANGELES REGIONAL — The bats weren’t the only ones making noise Friday as John Damozonio came out of the gates on fire, getting through the first 3.1 innings of this one without allowing a run and striking out Roch Cholowsky, Mulivai Levu, Cashel Dugger, and Jarrod Hocking in the process. The only blemishes were a Roman Martin solo homer and a Roch sac fly, but other than that, Damozonio was nearly perfect. He handed the ball to Cam Staton in the 8th to finish the job and he needed just 39 pitches to get through the final 2 innings of this one, striking out 3, keeping the Bruins off the scoreboard, and completing the upset. St. Mary’s will be facing Cal Poly on Saturday with a chance to go to the regional championship. — Jake Bargery

LOS ANGELES REGIONAL — In a shocking upset over the number one team in the country, Jacob Johnson and Makoa Sniffen provided all of the run production for the Gaels. This one was a pitcher’s duel throughout most of the game, but especially through the first three innings where the score remained 0-0. Jacob Johnson broke that scoreless tie with a solo bomb to get St. Mary’s on the board. They found themselves trailing 2-1 in the 6th when Sniffen drove in Tanner Griffith on a double to tie it. The score remained 2-2 until the top of the ninth when Johnson homered for the second time and that go-ahead shot proved to be enough as St. Mary’s stunned UCLA 3-2 to open regional play, making them the first number 1 overall seed to ever lose on regional Friday. — Jake Bargery

Randle's struggled a bit this year but was big in this one, contributing 2 hits and the final RBI. He's super hitter-ish but the results haven't followed this year. Look for him to return for his senior year and he could be a spark plug for the rest of the postseason. — Quinn Martin

It put Auburn in a deep hole that they'll need to climb out of if they want to win their regional and move on to Super's. He left a ton over the heart of the plate and this is a nightmare start for the Tigers who will need to go to war with NC State in an elimination Saturday game. — Quinn Martin

There were not many people in the lineup for Texas that didn’t contribute, but Tinney found his way to consistently make an impact at the plate no matter the situation. He is another name to watch for this year’s draft during this tournament and this was a good start for him as he will be another factor in the success of the lineup for the Longhorns. — Anthony Marotta

AUSTIN REGIONAL — Robbins continues to show why he deserves to be a first-round pick in the 2026 MLB draft. Another two homers on Friday in back-to-back innings, as his power output continues to soar this season, as Texas looks to make a deep run in this postseason. Robbins will continue to be a key factor in Texas's success moving forward, and Friday was another example of that. After the season he had at Seton Hall last year, when he showed he was one of the best contact hitters in college baseball, he has only proven that more in the SEC and has risen to the moment every single time it has come. AUSTIN REGIONAL — Pack Jr. showed why he was the SEC freshman of the year as he put three balls over the wall en route to Texas's blowout win over Holy Cross. He started the scoring with a solo home run in the first, following it up with a two-run home run in the 3rd and 5th. Who knows, maybe he hits a fourth if he doesn't get taken out of the game due to the score, because that's the way it is for Pack at the plate. He got on base every at-bat, as the only plate appearance he didn't hit a home run was a walk in the 4th. — Anthony Marotta

CHAPEL HILL REGIONAL — Unfortunately it won’t matter because Tennessee lost the game, but Ford played hero for the Vols on Friday. Down to their final out, the third baseman took a high fastball and parked it in the trees beyond left field to tie the game. He did have two more chances to come through in extras and struck out both times, but he still delivered the biggest moment of the game for Tennessee. Ford has plenty of postseason mileage, having reached the CWS with Virginia in 2024. — Harris Yudin

Chris Hacopian, 2B Texas A&M (Southeastern)

COLLEGE STATION REGIONAL — It’s been a modest year at the plate for Hacopian, but he’s gotten hot down the stretch, with six multi-hit performances in his last eight games— four of his 10 homers have come in that span. With the Aggies’ backs up against the wall, the future first-rounder unloaded on a hanging breaking ball, sending it way beyond the fence in left-center and pulling A&M within two. He was also involved in both rallies that later tied the game and then took the lead. — Harris Yudin

CHAPEL HILL REGIONAL — Blanco was simply masterful over seven innings on Friday, striking out four while issuing no walks and allowing just one extra-base hit. The Vols opted to save ace Tegan Kuhns for Saturday, and even though they lost, Blanco more than answered the call. It was his best outing of what has been a strong showing in his first year in Knoxville. Blanco is extremely experienced in the postseason, having made three strong starts in the 2024 tournament for Virginia. — Harris Yudin

Brendan Lawson, 1B Florida (Southeastern)

GAINESVILLE REGIONAL — Lawson's game was relatively quiet but of course he showed up in the biggest moment of the game. After a roaring comeback from Rider, Florida battled back to stay in the game. After Rider tied it up again in the 9th, who better to have leading off than Lawson. It didn't take long either. Just four pitches into the 9th, Lawson called game and crushed one to dead center to squeak away with the win. — Joshua Salguero

GAINESVILLE REGIONAL — Landon Stripling and Kyle Jones provided quality backup with the bats in Sandefer's great start. Each added a homer and drove in two runs that made up all the runs in the game for both sides through seven. Stripling saw his nine game hitting streak snapped in the SEC championship but a hit today looks to get him right back on another one. — Joshua Salguero

Gabe Gaeckle, RHP Arkansas (Southeastern)

LAWRENCE REGIONAL — Gabe Gaeckle has put up big performances in the postseason in his Arkansas career, but it did not look pretty after just two pitches, and the Hogs were behind on a HR to LF. It’s a mid-90s heater from the right-hander and a banger curveball in the low-80s. His changeup has good fade and depth to it and he bounced back from a 33-pitch 1st to keep Arkansas in the game and throw 85 pitches in 4 innings, striking out 7 but only giving up 1 ER in the next 3 innings is gutsy stuff from Gaeckle who might still factor into this Regional if it gets to a late game Sunday or a Monday winner-take-all where he could come back and pitch in relief or start wouldn’t put it past Dave Van Horn to press the Gaeckle button again. — Brandon Tew

LAWRENCE REGIONAL — A big leg kick and aggressive bat move by Niu, and he made it work today. A big game from the 7-hole hitter and the CF, Niu, who is more in the lineup for his glove than his bat. It’s been a disappointing 81 wRC+ in 56 games, but this 4-for-4 Wendy’s biggie bag with 4 RBI and 2 SBs was Niu doing it all offensively and was in the middle of every big inning for the Razorbacks on Friday. — Brandon Tew

GAINESVILLE REGIONAL — Florida pitched off their usual rotation and turned to Russell Sandefer for the match. Not too much of a risk compared to other team's pitch offs in the openers but Sandefer did struggle in his last two regular season starts and pitched just an inning of relief in the SEC tourney. There was some risk to be had but Sandefer turned away all of it. He pitched brilliantly, turning in 5.2 scoreless innings and allowing one hit through five innings of work. The 6th is where he began to see his first struggle with two baserunners allowed, finishing his day at 5.2 scoreless innings. — Joshua Salguero

‼️ Duke Stone, RHP Mississippi State (Southeastern)

STARKVILLE REGIONAL — To quote MSU Head Coach Brian O’Connor, the Bulldogs “knew” Stone was the man for the job on Friday. The job in question, of course, was to avoid the plague of upsets and put Mississippi State in the winner’s game at home on Saturday; Stone delivered unquestionably, with six innings of three-hit ball, allowing nary a walk nor a run while punching out 10 Bison hitters on the day. “He attacked the mound, executed his pitches well, and in the first game of a regional […] this was impressive,” said O’Connor. “We are proud of him.” Owing to his on-mound athleticism, strong secondaries, and projection, Will Dodge and I have had some interesting conversations about Stone and his Draft stock for 2027, and while I am a bit bearish compared to Dodge’s bullishness, games like these will put points on the argument board for Mr. Dodge; there’s still work to be done, but Duke looked the part of royalty on Friday. – Drew Wheeler

STARKVILLE REGIONAL – It was a little bit of left-field, right-field magic for the Bulldogs on Friday, as the outfield duo of Jacob Parker and Vytas Valincius led Mississippi State to a 10-1 thrashing of Lipscomb. Parker got the Bulldogs on the board in the fourth, singling to score Ace Reese. In the sixth, the Pride of Purvis went deep to the concourse in right field with a solo shot to lift the lead to 4-nil. In the next frame, Parker walked, the Valincius knocked one of his two doubles to right center, scoring a pair of runs and advancing Parker to third. Kevin Milewski would single to left center to plate the pair and give MSU another two runs in a busy seventh inning. The Bulldogs will need to keep this energy to combat a raucous Cincinnati squad on Saturday, but I believe they’re game for the task. – Drew Wheeler

MORGANTOWN REGIONAL — This Kentucky team drew a lot of attention when their name was announced on selection Monday, but they came out hot in this Morgantown regional. I mentioned the back-and-forthness of this game already, and that certainly was present but no one was able to do damage against these Wake arms until Caeden Cloud and Braxton Van Cleave did in the middle innings. Cloud got the scoring started for the Wildcats, scoring Carson Hanson on a double in the fifth inning. Van Cleave came up in the 6th with an RBI opportunity and he delivered with a double of his own, scoring both Tyler Bell and Luke Lawrence, tying the game at 3. This certainly wasn’t the end of this game, but these were two pivotal drives that swung the momentum into Kentucky’s favor and gave them the spark they needed. They will be facing West Virginia in the winner’s bracket game Saturday. — Jake Bargery
