PLIVE+ Deep Sea Diving: Early Season Targets 4/28/26

Prospects Live April 29, 2026
Source

Our newest writer, Charles Trimble (@high_upside on X...give him a follow!) takes charge of the Deep Sea Diving article series that uncovers the hidden gems of the minor leagues. In this series, Charles will use PLive+/-, Prospect Live's secret weapon (which all MVP and Hall of Fame subscribers have access to) that uncovers the next breakout prospects before anyone else.

In this particular article, Charles looks at hitting prospects who are rostered in less than 5% of Fantrax leagues who are performing to start the season. The recommendation we will make to you avid dynasty players, is to have at least 2-3 roster spots at the bottom of your farm system where you churn through players like this, because there's a chance that you could uncover a future MLB regular, or in rare cases, a star! Regardless of the depth of your leagues, this is a place you want to be (Tuesday and Friday will be the regular dates for these articles) and Charles will be the pilot of the submarine that will guide you bottom of the ocean to identify these players.

Unheralded 2025 Draftees

Cooper Flemming, TBR, 2B

19 yo, Single-A; 5% rostered on Fantrax; PL+ year/career 117/105 (+3.1 monthly change)

The Rays 2nd round high school pick has hit the ground running in full-season ball. Flemming is slashing .323/.429/.556 with 9 XBH (3 HR) and 5 SB (0 CS) in 86 PA to start his career. He's running a 82.1% contact rate and should develop more power as he grows into his 6'3 frame and has already added 25 pounds since being drafted. The only blemish is his 57.9% ground ball rate, but he has plenty of time for adjustments as he works his way through the minors. The arm is solid. He sat in the low-90s as a high school pitcher. He may be able to play multiple infield positions, but there's serious doubt that he's a long-term shortstop.

Cameron Maldonado, SFG, OF

22 yo, Single-A, 3% rostered on Fantrax; PL+ year/career 110/106 (+20.1 monthly change)

Maldonado is destroying Single-A after scuffling a bit at the level last year. The 7th round pick is slashing .333/.423/.697 with 7 HR and 8 SB (2 CS) in 17 GP. He's walking (14.1%) nearly as much as he's striking out (15.4%) with an 80.6% contact rate so far in 2026. Known for his wheels, the 6'2 outfielder hit 15 HR in his breakout Junior season at Northeastern. If he can keep up anything remotely close to this pace he'll be playing in Eugene soon.

Colby Shelton, CWS, 2B/3B

23 yo, High-A, 3% rostered on Fantrax; PL+ year/career 111/116 (+19.6 monthly change)

The former Florida Gator was pretty putrid at Single-A last year, but looks much more comfortable after a promotion to High-A this season. He's currently slashing (a heavily BABIP-aided) .417/.506/.806 with 15 XBH (6 HR) and 4 SB (1 CS) in 2026.
