Microsoft’s Pavan Davuluri, President of Windows + Devices (W+D), has promised that we will see various improvements to Windows 11 going forward. The recent strategic shift is a direct response to all the harsh criticism suffered over the past year-plus of broken updates.

Windows Latest has compiled a list of 18 promised features and improvements that are slated to roll out to the public within 2026. Among other things, Microsoft promises to improve the following:

  • Taskbar
  • Start menu
  • Copilot scaled back
  • Windows Update
  • OOBE installation process
  • File Explorer
  • Dark mode inconsistencies
  • Settings app redesign
  • System performance
  • Hardware stability
  • Bluetooth and audio
  • Windows Hello passwordless security
  • Touchpad and haptic feedback
  • Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL)
  • Native first-party apps
  • Feature Flags for Windows Insiders
  • Feedback Hub
  • Fewer advertisements

The idea is that these changes will be part of the monthly Windows updates, so expect 2 to 3 improvements per month going forward.
