General Discussion • Re: What games should we feature at FOSDEM?
_FOSDEM is a free and non-commercial event organised by the community for the community. The goal is to provide free and open source software developers and communities a place to meet to:
get in touch with other developers and projects; be informed about the latest developments in the free software world; be informed about the latest developments in the open source world; attend interesting talks and presentations on various topics by project leaders and committers; to promote the development and benefits of free software and open source solutions._
This event has a ton of developer focus.
I would consider setting up a machine with Luanti running as a window with MTG next to a text editor with a simple mod written and a window that shows the minimal files needed to create the mod.
I wouldnt showcase something too complex, but illustrating just how easy it is to get something up and running, like a custom block would be refreshing. Especially for anyone coming from modding minecraft.
When I discovered Luanti, as soon as I saw how easy it was to create something it was super exciting after continually fighting with forge and fabric on mc.
I would also include on a whiteboard, or maybe a flyer or some other way, to show people they can connect to a server with their phone and see themselves on a machine that is playing on the server too. I was blown away by how easy it was to play on my phone with my boy.
