RUMOR: Disney Television Animation Reportedly Developing “Disney Fairies” Revival And “Toon Town” Series According To SAG-AFTRA Listing?
Toons and Fairies might be on the way at Disney Television Animation?
We might be heading to Toontown and Pixie Hollow as potential new projects based on these franchise might happen. The SAG-AFTRA website recently has listed two potential new projects named “Tinker Bell And The Glitter City ” and “Toon Town (Shorts)” under their public search database.
According to the listing both pilots got approved in 2023 however there’s a big chance these two could have been scrapped specially Tinker Bell with the recent announcement of the live-action series “** Tink** ” a drama series featuring the character, from Liz Heldens and Bridget Carpenter which is being developed at Disney Branded Television for Disney+.
“Disney Fairies” has been a topic of discussion of a full revival within Disney fans as the franchise has recently found new life in books by Disney Publishing Worldwide with the novels “Wings Of Starlight ” and “Tinker Bell and The Lost City”. Speculation on a potential revival of the franchise points more with Meredith Roberts which used to be SVP of DisneyToon Studios and oversaw the “Tinker Bell” films since “The Great Fairy Rescue”. Roberts would be promoted as Disney Television Animation CEO in 2019 after longtime CEO Eric Coleman left the studio to become VP of Development at Avatar Studios at Nickelodeon Animation.
In terms of speculation “Toon Town (Shorts)” could be a project that could introduce the next interation of “Mickey And Friends ” basically new shorts inspired by the Disneyland area with the core cast being The Sensational Six in new wacky situations, other speculation is Disney’s potential awnser to Warner Bros Animation’s “Jellystone! ” with The Disney Afternoon cast since Disney has been more active than ever with re-introducing these characters and IPs to a new generation of kids.
Remember that this is just a rumor/speculation and both projects could have been scrapped since the site also lists the scrapped Lee Knox Ostertag series “Neon Galaxy” and “Weird Waters ” by Bob Bowen and Jacob Hair.
