“Ice Age: Boiling Point” Cast Previews Return Of The Prehistoric Franchise With It’s New Home “20th Century Animation” As They Unveil Details For The New Film.
20th Century Animation has unveiled the first trailer for Ice Age: Boiling Point, the first Ice Age film in more than a decade, which is set to open next February.
In footage unveiled at Las Vegas on Thursday, set against an icy prehistoric landscape, we see that Scrat, the franchise’s iconic squirrel, now has a baby originally introduced in “Ice Age: Scrat Tales”. He fights with it over an acorn before giving it a baby acorn, which it turns into a pacifier. We then realize there’s an active volcano in the background, and suddenly, lava is everywhere, leaving Scrat and child to hop from one ice floe to another in hopes of surviving.
Queen Latifah said the new film finds our lead characters — a group of animals navigating the Ice Age — at “** A little fork in the road in their lives. The group said they’ll be taking a trip to a lost world, where treacherous new obstacles — including the volcano — await them.** “
Ice Age: Boiling Point will also see the return of voice actors John Leguizamo and Simon Pegg. It will be the first theatrical Ice Age film to not be produced by Blue Sky Studios, following its closure in April 2021 due the COVID-19 pandemic affecting Disney’s theatrical film divisions. However 20th Century Animation has been set to be taking the torch for new projects based on Blue Sky’s core IPs (A third "Rio” film has been in development since 2022). Veteran Blue Sky Studios alumnisLori Forte and Patrick Worlock are the executive producers for the new film
“Ice Age: Boiling Point” releases February 5, 2027 on theaters worldwide.
