Jeff Kinney has confirmed that a sixth feature film installment in the “Diary Of A Wimpy Kid” franchise is currently in production at 20th Century Animation and Walt Disney Studios. Kinney confirmed the sixth film during the Da Bois Podcast where he hinted that the script was sent to Walt Disney Studios back in December 2025/January 2026. Kinney also mentions that the sixth movie adapts “One of the more important books in the Wimpy Kid canon and one of the more recent books.”

According to fans, the book contenders for the sixth film are “No Brainer”, “Hot Mess”, “Wrecking Ball” and “ The Deep End”. Back in 2023, Kinney has mentioned that he would love to do a “road-trip” or “summer” story so it’s more likely the sixth movie is an animated adaptation of the “The Long Haul ” or “The Deep End".
