Unable to Access Account Due to Lost 2FA

2FA exists specifically to protect your account when someone has gained access to your password or your email. If we disabled it based on an email request, we’d be removing the protection in exactly the scenario it’s designed to defend against. We have no way to tell your request apart from the same request sent by an attacker who has compromised your email, which is why we will not disable 2FA on request under any circumstances. 2FA is entirely optional, but if you choose to enable it, keeping access is your responsibility. Deleting the authenticator app without a backup and without the recovery codes leaves no path back in. We give you the tools to prevent this, but we can’t recover an account from a situation where every recovery mechanism has been discarded.
