I think this effect is a serious problem, I fully agree. I also think it is a more general problem, not only confined to the effect of agentic coding on Haskell software development.
I think it is funny how the paper uses hundreds of trials to collect evidence for a basic human emotion/behavior: lazyness. (And it is even more funny that in their complete scientific treatment of lazyness, they don’t even mention the word lazy/lazyness at all).
Nevertheless, I think that generative thinking models will take over the crunch-work of software development. That does not mean we should sit back in lazyness. Instead, I think we should take the opportunity and orchestrate – if one can overcome one’s weaker self .
