Alex Armstrong has been urged to enjoy some well-deserved time away from screens after taking to Instagram to share a peek at his latest holiday.

The People's Channel fan-favourite, who fronts Alex Armstrong Tonight and has been filling in on Breakfast of late, has jetted to Sorrento, Italy, for his trip.

Alex was last seen alongside Ellie Costello on Wednesday's Breakfast, while Nana Akua filled in for him on Saturday's Alex Armstrong Tonight.

Keeping fans up to date during his absence, Alex shared a series of pictures from the first few days of his Italian holiday on Instagram on Sunday.

In the first snap of the slideshow, Alex smiles for the camera just after sunset with the picturesque Sorrento skyline behind him.

Famous for its lemons, Alex then provided a snap of a fruit and veg stall from the Sorrento markets, with a warning of "don't touch" erected to deter tourists from handling the produce.

Alex then shared a video with his fans, capturing the sound of the Gulf of Naples as the sun sets in the distance.

Keen to take in the sights, Alex then shared a series of snaps and clips from his trips to the city's historic landmarks.

He signed off the post with a clip of the sun beaming down on a town square as Alex spun the camera to share with viewers the picturesque Italian location.

After sharing the update, it didn't take long for several members of the GB News family to share their well-wishes.

Sophie Reaper, Cameron Walker, Bev Turner, and Charlie Peters were among Alex's followers who 'liked' the update on Instagram.

And poking fun at Alex's hectic work schedule in recent weeks, Charlie couldn't resist commenting: "You're allowed to go on holiday?"
