BATTERY ELECTRIC VEHICLE

A battery electric vehicle includes a processor and a shifter. The processor is configured to switch between an automatic control mode and a manual operation mode of the battery electric vehicle according to operation by a driver of the battery electric vehicle. The processor is configured to: when a first condition is met while the battery electric vehicle is in the automatic control mode, reject a request of the driver for switching from the automatic control mode to the manual operation mode; and when a second condition is met while the battery electric vehicle is in the manual operation mode, switch the manual operation mode to the automatic control mode. The first condition and the second condition are different from each other.
