Prismatic type battery cell comprising: a box-shaped metal case, which, in turn, comprises a first base wall and a second base wall, opposite each other along a longitudinal axis of the cell; a stack comprising a plurality of electrode plates alternating with each other and interspaced by separator material foils; a venting system, which, upon exceeding a pressure inside the box-shaped metal case above a predefined threshold value, is configured to allow gas to escape from the inside to the outside of the metal box-shaped metal case; wherein the venting system is located in the area the first base wall and/or the second base wall and is configured to use the first base wall and/or the second base wall as a valve.
