The present disclosure is directed at an automotive electrical and electronic system comprising a plurality of power and data center (PDC) nodes, the PDC nodes each including at least one sensor interface and at least one data interface, a central power distribution unit coupled to at least one power source or source system, wherein the sensor interface is configured to receive sensor data from one or more sensors, the data interface is configured to transmit the sensor data to the central power distribution unit, and the central power distribution unit is coupled to the PDC nodes and is configured to supply power to each of the PDC nodes and to receive sensor data from the PDC nodes.
