A brake system is provided with a service brake and a parking brake for braking a vehicle provided with a lift axle adapted to lift or lower the axle. The brake system is provided with: a pressure control valve (PCV) that cuts the supply of compressed air to the service brake acting on a first axle (W1) having the lift axle; a drive unit (12) that cuts the supply of compressed air to the parking brake; an electronic brake system (EBS) ECU (30) that controls the pressure control valve (PCV); and an air drier ECU (11) that controls the drive unit (12). When the first axle (W1) is placed at a lifted position by the lift axle, the EBS ECU (30) activates the pressure control valve (PCV) while the air drier ECU (11) activates the drive unit (12).
