A battery module including a pouch-type cell provided with an electrode assembly, and electrode leads electrically connected to the electrode assembly to extend outside of a pouch-type exterior accommodating the electrode assembly, and a support frame provided with a lower plate, and a pair of side plates extending upward from the lower plate, and together with the lower plate defining an accommodation space for accommodating at least a portion of the pouch-type cell, wherein the electrode leads are disposed above the pouch-type exterior so as to be exposed outside of the support fame through an upper opening thereof is provided. The battery module may include at least one guide plate having an insertion slot into which an electrode lead may be inserted.
