The invention relates to a cover device (1) comprising a first storage-formed part (5) that can be arranged in a motor vehicle and is positioned at the rear in its installation position in the motor vehicle, and a second storage-formed part (6) that is hinged in a hinge region (31) to the first storage-formed part (5) about a pivot axis (Y) and faces an upper region of a rear seat backrest (2) in its installation position in the motor vehicle, at the front. Furthermore, the cover device (1) has at least one return device that spans the hinge region (31) encompassing the pivot axis (Y) and has an elastic spring element, which is fastened to the first and second storage-formed parts (5, 6) and which, in the installation position of the first and second storage-formed parts (5, 6) in the motor vehicle, upon application of a pivoting force exerted by the rear seat backrest (2) on the second storage-formed part (6), enables pivoting of the second storage element (6) from its basic position (A) against the return force exerted by the elastic spring element (12) into a folding position.
