Heavy duty tire comprising a tread (1) composed of a rubber composition comprising 30 parts by mass or more of a silica having 175 m/g or more of a nitrogen adsorption specific surface area (NSA) based on 100 parts by mass of a rubber component, wherein the rubber composition comprises 20% by mass or more of a styrene-butadiene rubber and 20% by mass or more of an isoprene-based rubber, and the tread has 3.0% or more of difference between a ratio S1 of a circumferential groove (4, 5) area to a contact area and a ratio S2 of a transverse groove (9, 13, 15) area to the contact area.
