DRIVE
July 17, 2024
A rail vehicle, a method for bridging a power gap when passing through a separation point with a rail vehicle, and a method for energy-efficient driving of a traction motor of a rail vehicle are described herein. The rail vehicle comprises a grid converter and a traction current converter connected to the grid converter via a direct voltage intermediate circuit for supplying a traction machine of the rail vehicle. Furthermore, the rail vehicle comprises an auxiliary operation converter connected to the direct voltage intermediate circuit for supplying auxiliary operations; and a traction battery connected to the direct voltage intermediate circuit, wherein the traction battery is designed to supply the direct voltage intermediate circuit with power when passing through a separation point.
