The invention relates to a trailer coupling (9; 109) for a motor vehicle (90) with a carrier arrangement (10) having a transverse beam (11) provided for arrangement at a rear (91) of a motor vehicle (90) and a holder for holding (40; 140) a coupling arm (80) of the trailer coupling (9; 109) held on the transverse beam (11), wherein the coupling arm (80) is provided for fastening a trailer or a load carrier, wherein the transverse beam (11) penetrates a passage opening (43) of the holder (40; 140) and the holder (40; 140) is held in a form-fitting manner at a holder region (25) of the transverse beam (11). It is provided that the holder (40; 140) has a receiving part (45; 145) which has a transverse beam receptacle (44) at least partially providing the passage opening (43) for the transverse beam (11), and a closing part (46; 146) form-fittingly connected to the receiving part (45; 145), which closes the transverse beam receptacle (44) wholly or partially, so that the receiving part (45; 145) and the closing part (46; 146) limit the passage opening (43), and that the closing part (46; 146) is fixed to the receiving part (45; 145) by a deformation of the transverse beam (11) in the region of the holder (40; 140).
