A vision system (10) for a commercial vehicle (1) for displaying legally prescribed fields of vision (51, 52, 61, 62) comprises a display unit (20), a detection unit (40), and a calculation unit (38). The detection unit (40) is adapted to capture a plurality of images comprising at least a first image that includes the field of vision of a main mirror and a second image that includes at least the portion of the field of vision of a wide-angle mirror that is not part of the field of vision of the main mirror. At least the second image is modified at least in a first modification region (24) in the wide-angle direction, such that the image extension in the wide-angle direction is reduced. The boundary line between the first image and the second image describes a non-linear or a non-constant, linear function. Preferably, the combined image (21) has at least a second modification region (26) in which at least one of the plurality of images is modified in the longitudinal direction of the commercial vehicle and/or a wide-angle direction of the plurality of images such that its image extension in this direction is reduced.
