LINEAR MOTOR DRIVE SYSTEM

The invention relates to a linear motor drive system for accelerating a vehicle (3) within an acceleration section on a travel track (1). The linear motor drive system comprises a stator with at least two stator elements (2) arranged along the travel track (1), wherein the stator elements (2) are combined into at least two stator groups (4.1 - 4.4). Furthermore, the linear motor drive system comprises a rotor (17a,b) which is fastened to the vehicle (3). Each stator group (4.1 - 4.4) is permanently connected to at least one dedicated energy converter (5.1 - 5.4) for energy supply, which can be controlled individually. At least two of the stator groups (4.1 - 4.4) are arranged such that the rotor can simultaneously interact with the at least two stator groups (4.1 - 4.4). The invention further relates to the use of the linear motor drive system for accelerating a vehicle (3) for passenger transport in an amusement facility.
