The invention relates to a drive system (1), wherein the drive system (1) comprises at least two inverters (3, 31, 32, 33) and at least two motors (2). The motors (2), which each comprise a stator and a rotor, each have at least a first winding system (21) and a second winding system (22) in the stator. The respective first winding system (21) is thereby electrically conductively connected to a first inverter (31) and the respective second winding system (22) is electrically conductively connected to a second inverter (32). The invention further relates to a method for redundant operation of a drive system (1). In this case, at least one motor exchanges electrical energy with the second inverter (32) and/or one or more further inverters (33) in the event of failure of a first inverter (31).
