A gas turbine engine (20) includes, among other things, a passageway (P) configured to permit fluid to drain back into a bearing compartment (60). The passageway (P) has an inlet (82) outside the bearing compartment (60) and an outlet (84) inside the bearing compartment (60). The outlet (84) is spaced-apart from a central rotational axis (T) of a towershaft gear (64).
