The caster according to the invention is essentially characterized by the fact that it comprises a housing (10), a pivot (20) comprising two parts (21), (22), the part (22) comprising two portions (22-1) and (22-2), the portion (22-1) being located between the portion (22-2) and the part (21), and means for rotatably mounting the part (22) relative to the housing (10) which comprise an orifice (30) made in the housing comprising a zone (30-1) having a diameter greater than the portion (22-1) and a zone (30-2) located between the bottom (33) of the orifice (30) and the zone (30-1), the diameter of the portion (22-2) being equal to the diameter of the zone (30-2), a circular groove (25) made in the portion (22-1), a ring (40) located in the groove (25) and having an outer diameter equal to that of the zone (30-1), and a damping buffer (50) disposed between the bottom (33) of the orifice (30) and the part (22), the outer diameter of this damping buffer being equal to the diameter of the zone (30-2).
