The invention relates to a method for traction control of driven wheels (32) of a multi-axle motor vehicle (30), wherein the driven wheels (32) are assigned to at least one axle (36) of the motor vehicle (30), wherein further wheels (31) are assigned to at least one further axle (35) of the motor vehicle (30), which wheels can be driven by means of actuation of a switching device (33) and can be towed by means of a release of the switching device (33), wherein rotation speed information of the driven wheels (32) is detected (4) by a control unit (20) and compared with a reference value (5), and wherein when an upper threshold deviation from the reference value is exceeded by the rotation speed information or when a lower threshold deviation from the reference value is fallen below by the rotation speed information, loss of traction of the driven wheels (32) is detected (7, 10) by the control unit (20). The method according to the invention is characterized in that the actuation of the switching device (33) is performed automatically by the control unit (20) upon detection of loss of traction of the driven wheels (32) (9, 12). The invention further relates to a corresponding control unit (20) and an agricultural work machine (30).
