The present invention relates to a strap tensioner comprising a lower part (3) with a bottom part (4) flanked by two side flanges (2, 2.1) and comprising a clamping lever (5) having side flanges (2, 2.1) and pivotally hinged to the side flanges (2, 2.1) of the lower part (3), with a deflection web (9) for guiding a strap (18) to be tensioned around to form a strap loop, wherein the deflection web (9) of the clamping lever (5) when the strap tensioner (1) is closed is inclined relative to the plane of the clamping lever (5) in the direction toward the pivot axis (S) of the clamping lever (5).
