VEGETABLE OIL DERIVATIVE, METHOD OF MAKING AND USE IN RUBBER COMPOSITIONS AND TIRES

A vegetable oil derivative is disclosed and its method of manufacturing and use. The vegetable oil derivative comprises the structure: where R, R, and R are independently selected from a C15 alkenyl to a C20 alkenyl or from a C15 alkyl to a C20 alkyl, and optionally containing aromatic groups; R is - S - S - R - or R is - S - X - S - S - R- where X is a substituted or an unsubstituted C1 to C10 alkane diyl, a substituted or unsubstituted phenylene, or a combination thereof; R, R are independently selected from a C1 to a C10 alkyl; R is selected from a C1 to a C10 alkane diyl; j = 0 to 2; k = 1 to 3; and j+k = 3; wherein each R is attached via a carbon-sulfur linkage to one of R, R or R; and m is the number of the carbon-sulfur linkages.
