An air starter (10, 210, 410) for an engine (14), such as a turbine engine (14), that includes a turbine (50, 250, 450) for rotatably extracting mechanical power from a flow of fluid (36, 236, 436). The turbine (50, 250, 450) includes a drive shaft (70, 270, 470) that can be coupled to an output shaft (80, 280, 480) to provide a rotational output. The interface ((90, 290, 490) between the drive shaft (70, 270, 470) and the output shaft (80, 280, 480) can be offset.
