June 4, 2025
A roof system for a vehicle (1) having a roof opening (3) in its fixed roof (2), comprises a stationary part (7, 9) configured to be attached to the fixed roof. A panel (4) is movably supported on the stationary part. The stationary part (7, 9) includes guide rails (9) extending in longitudinal direction substantially parallel to opposite sides of the roof opening (3). The guide rails slidably support an operating mechanism (10) for the panel and include guide grooves (17, 50) bordered by guide flanges. The operating mechanism includes a driving slide (23), a panel front support (20) and a panel rear support (24) movable by means of the driving slide. The rear support is connected to a panel bracket guide (33) of a panel bracket (22) extending in longitudinal direction alongside a corresponding edge of the panel. The panel bracket guide is slidably in engagement with the panel rear support (24) so as to enable the panel to slide with respect to the rear support when the front support (2) is driven by the driving slide (23). [0002] The panel front support (20) is in engagement with a guide rail groove (17) on the outer side of an upright flange (49) of each guide rail (9) while the panel bracket guide (33) extends mainly on the other, inner side of said upright flange.
