Vehicle seat (1) with a seat portion (2) and a backrest portion (3), in which the backrest portion comprises a frame element (4) which encloses an inner surface (13), and a knitted fabric (5) arranged on the frame element, wherein the frame element has at least one fastening element (41, 42) on at least two opposite inner sides (15a, 16a) respectively, and the knitted fabric has a complementary fastening element (23a, 24a) arranged on the rear side respectively, wherein the knitted fabric is fastened to the frame element by the fastening elements such that the knitted fabric grips the frame element starting from a front side of the frame element facing the seat portion at least partially from the outside inward and is essentially completely tensioned.
