Vehicle seat (1) with a seat part (2) and a backrest part (3), wherein the backrest part comprises a frame element (4) which encloses an inner surface (13), and a knitted fabric (5) arranged on the frame element, whereby the knitted fabric is arranged freely suspended on the front side of the frame element at least in the region of the inner surface and at least in the region of the inner surface a support padding element (32) is arranged in or on the knitted fabric and is held exclusively by the latter, whereby the knitted fabric provides the only support and/or padding for a seat user at least in the region of the inner surface.
