Provided is a coating film forming method which includes forming a plurality of coating liquid films on a base material and drying the coating liquid films to form a plurality of coating films on the base material, in which creases in an uncoated portion, that occur in the process of forming the plurality of coating films on the base material, can be suppressed.The coating film forming method includes a step A of coating a continuously transported base material with a coating liquid to form a plurality of coating liquid films on the base material; and a step B of, in each of the plurality of coating liquid films, applying a solvent contained in the coating liquid on both end parts of a coating liquid film in a width direction in a case where a concentration of solid contents of the both end parts of the coating liquid film in the width direction is higher than a concentration of solid contents of a central part of the coating liquid film in the width direction, so that the concentration of solid contents of the both end parts of the coating liquid film in the width direction is to be equal to or lower than the concentration of solid contents of the central part of the coating liquid film in the width direction.
