The invention relates to a method for controlling a drive system of a motor vehicle, in particular a commercial vehicle, wherein the drive system comprises an internal combustion engine charged by an electrified exhaust gas turbocharger and an auxiliary power take-off on the engine side or transmission side. According to general principles of the invention, an electric motor operation of the electrified exhaust gas turbocharger is activated as a function of an operating state of the auxiliary power take-off in order to provide more quickly the increased power demanded by the auxiliary power take-off. In this way, speed drops caused by power demands of the auxiliary power take-off can be avoided or at least reduced.
