The invention relates to a method and a control device for raising and/or lowering an exhaust gas temperature of an internal combustion engine with an exhaust gas aftertreatment device arranged in an exhaust gas line. According to general aspects of the invention, the method for setting the exhaust gas temperature for exhaust gas aftertreatment uses an electric motor operation and/or a generator operation of an electrified exhaust gas turbocharger (10) (S1-S4).
