DEVICE AND METHOD FOR SUPPORTING A DRIVER OF A VEHICLE, IN PARTICULAR A COMMERCIAL VEHICLE

The invention relates to a method for assisting a driver of a vehicle, in particular a commercial vehicle, wherein the vehicle (1) has at least one vehicle tire (3), in particular designed as a pneumatic tire, wherein at least one temperature sensor (17) is provided by means of which a temperature of the vehicle tire (3) is measurable, wherein the vehicle (1) has a display device (41), in particular a visual and/or acoustic one, by means of which information about the condition of the vehicle tire (3) is displayable to the driver of the vehicle (1), and wherein the vehicle (1) has a control and/or regulation device (39) connected to the temperature sensor (17) in a signal-transmitting manner, by means of which the display of the display device (41) is controllable and/or regulatable. According to the invention, the control and/or regulation device (39) is switchable into several warning levels, such that if at least one temperature value measured by means of the temperature sensor (17) exceeds a first defined limit value (TG1), the control and/or regulation device (39) automatically switches into a first warning level, in which it is displayed to the driver by means of the display device (41) that he should stop the vehicle (1) within a defined time period and/or within a defined route section and/or that he should not exceed a defined speed value with the vehicle (1), and that if the measured temperature value exceeds a second defined limit value (TG2) designed to be greater than the first limit value (TG1), the control and/or regulation device (39) automatically switches into a second warning level, in which it is displayed to the driver by means of the display device (41) that he should stop the vehicle (1) immediately.
