The invention relates to a dynamoelectric machine (1) with a stator lamination stack (3) and a rotor lamination stack (4), wherein the stator lamination stack (3) and/or the rotor lamination stack (4) each has one or more winding systems which form a winding overhang (8,9) at the respective end faces of the stator lamination stack (3) and/or the rotor lamination stack (4), wherein in the winding system, in particular in or on the winding overhang (8,9), at least one sensing line (10) is provided in order to detect winding short circuits.
