The invention relates to a roof rack kit (10) comprising at least a first and a second load carrying bar (11, 12, 13, 14) attachable to a vehicle and adapted to extend across the roof of the vehicle. The roof rack kit (10) further comprises a first load strip (30, 30', 30", 30'") with a first height (H1, H2, H3, H4) protruding vertically from the outer periphery of the first load carrying bar (11) and a second load strip (30, 30', 30", 30"') having a second height (H1, H2, H3, H4) protruding vertically from the outer periphery of the second load carrying bar (12). The first height (H1, H2, H3, H4) of the first load strip (30, 30', 30", 30"') is different from the second height (H1, H2, H3, H4) of the load strip (30, 30', 30", 30"'), so as to compensate for a height difference between the first and the second load carrying bar (11, 12) when the first and the second load carrying bars (11, 12) are mounted on the vehicle. The invention also relates to a load strip having a specified height and a method for adjusting the height of a roof rack kit.
