A load carrier foot

A load carrier foot (5) and vehicle load carrier for a vehicle (2), such as a roof rack, comprising the load carrier foot (5). The load carrier foot (5) comprises a body (10) comprising a load carrying bar receiving surface (11) for receiving a load carrying bar (6), a vehicle support surface (26) for resting against a surface of the vehicle (2). The load carrier foot (5) further comprises a fastening member (31) adapted to be operated by a user to attach the load carrier foot (5) to the vehicle (2). The fastening member (31) is adapted to be automatically retracted to a position in which the fastening member is protected from interaction with a surface of the vehicle (2). The load carrier foot (5) prevents a user form accidentally damage the vehicle (2), such as the lacquer of the roof of the vehicle when positioning and tightening the load carrier foot (5) to the vehicle (2).
