The invention relates to a transmitting coil (1, 1a..1f) for a contactless energy transfer system (8), comprising a winding (2) with multiple turns of at least one electrical conductor. The winding (2) occupies an annular region (3) between an outer larger irregular rectangle (4) and an inner smaller irregular rectangle (5). The annular region (3) is wider on the longer side (x1) of the outer rectangle (4) than on its shorter side (x2). Furthermore, a transmitter (6) is specified with such a transmitting coil (1, 1a..1f) having multiple electrical conductors and multiple independently switchable and/or controllable power supplies (7, 7a, 7b). Finally, the invention also relates to an energy transfer system (8) with such a transmitting coil (1a..1f) / such a transmitter (6) as well as a receiving coil (10) installed in a motor vehicle (9).
