A driving support device for a host vehicle (2) that travels on a first road (40) and makes a direction change, at a junction between the first road (40) and a second road (30), by turning right or left is provided. The driving support device includes: a front detection unit (5) configured to detect an object in front of the host vehicle (2); a recognition unit (11) configured to recognize a state of another vehicle (20) that travels on the second road (30) toward the junction (50) and that follows the host vehicle (2) after the host vehicle (2) completes the direction change, based on a detection result of the front detection unit (5) obtained before or during the direction change; and a support determination unit (12) configured to determine whether the host vehicle (12) needs a rear-side support in relation to the state of the other vehicle (20), based on a recognition result of the recognition unit (11).
