A motor vehicle lamp (01) is described with at least one light source (02) intended for generating a wildlife accident avoidance light (WUVL), which emits light, in particular of a wavelength perceived by wild animals as a warning color and/or of a wavelength not visible to the human eye, into the surroundings, at least however along the course of a roadway. The motor vehicle lamp comprises means for environment and/or driving state dependent operation of the at least one light source (02) intended for generating the WUVL. Furthermore, a method for at least driving state dependent operation of a wildlife accident avoidance light (WUVL) is described, wherein a detection of at least vehicle data reflecting a driving state of a motor vehicle (04) and a control of the operation or non-operation of the WUVL at least on the basis of the detected driving state is provided.
