Light coupling protection for a vehicle headlamp, wherein the vehicle headlamp has a central light guide unit (L1) as well as at least two outer light guide units (L2, L3), wherein each light guide unit (L1, L2, L3) has at least one light outcoupling surface (F1, F2, F3), wherein the central light guide unit (L1) has at least a first and a second cover element (AE1, AE2), wherein the cover elements (AE1, AE2) surround the at least one light outcoupling surface (F1) of the central light guide unit (L1).
