The invention relates to a transport container (1) with an overall rectangular loading surface (2), on the longitudinal sides (3) of which vertical elements (4) supporting a tarpaulin close or open the longitudinal sides, being slidably guided leftward in or on an upper rail (7) and a lower rail (8), wherein the tarpaulin is foldable. According to the invention, a single tarpaulin in a closed state closes both longitudinal sides (3) of the transport container across at least one front side (5). In an open state, the single tarpaulin opens across at least one of the complete longitudinal sides, making the loading surface freely accessible.
