A method of adjusting a brake, the method including the steps of: providing a mechanically operated brake including friction material, providing a rotor, providing an adjuster for adjusting a running clearance between the friction material and the rotor, providing a sensor system for determining a likelihood of a braking event, and upon a determination of a change in the likelihood of a braking event operating the adjuster to adjust the running clearance of the brake.
