Method and system for setting a braking component running clearnace

A method of setting a running clearance between a friction element of a braking system and a corresponding friction surface of the braking system. The method comprises monitoring a signal indicative of a load on an actuator to detect a peak in the signal, indicative of a point of zero running clearance being reached. The actuator is retracted to set the running clearance. A braking system, controller for a braking system and software for a controller for a braking system are all disclosed, for carrying out the disclosed methods.
